An enchanting
design, this Celtic Maltese cross accents each of the arms with a three pointed celtic knot, the traditional symbol of the trinity. The Maltese cross originally took its name from the Knights of St. John of Jerusalem, an order known for their care of the poor and the sick. The order later moved to the isle of Malta and the cross has been adopted by any group caring for the sick and injured, although in modern times it has become most closely associated with those who care for their fellow citizens in the role of firefighters. At the heart of this pendant sparkles a tiny spring green peridot and its back is marked with the words "anam cara" which means "soul friend". This comes from the ancient Celtic belief that there are some friendships so deep that they reflect a ancient bond or connectedness of the two people's souls that allows them to understand, trust and support each other at a level beyond most mortal relationships. This meaningful pendant measures 5/8" x 3/4", not including the bail with its 4mm opening in the measurements.
