Beautifully
detailed with woven Celtic detailing, this sterling silver Iona Cross has at its center a beaded, sun inspired ring. The Iona cross is a design taken from the St. John's crosses found on the ancient Scottish isle of Iona, site of the first Scottish monastary, founded by St. Columba in 563 A.D. The circle in this design is variably felt to represent the eternal love of God for his children or the halo of the Sun or Son. Here, this is beautifully represented in ornate sterling silver openwork accented with a central bezel set 6mm CZ crystal. This striking piece measures just under 1 1/2" x 1 3/8", not including the custom bail with its 8mm opening in the measurements.
