The heavy sterling silver orbs with the overlaid continents in sterling are accented with hand applied cloisonne or enamellwork in a rich sapphire blue. Cloisssone comes from the French 'cloisons' or partitions for the metal strips which border the vivid enamel accents. These are nicely sized, measuring just under 3/4" in diameter with the curved bar to secure them just over 3/8" long with a 3/8" diameter round stud. These are of nice weight, a full 20.0 grams or 0.70 ounces on my postal scale.
