The cloisonne enamelling is hand applied in vivid shades of genuine gold plate, rose, sky cobalt blue, crimson red and emerald green with the brass base metal gleaming through in the raised accents. Cloisonne comes from the French 'cloisons' or partitions for the metal strips which border the vivid enamelwork. It is decorated with a charming design of a pair of graceful hummingbirds in flight amidst a garden of orchid or fushia blooms. This egg shaped piece has equally beautiful enamelling on all sides. This lovely piece measures 1 3/8" x 1 1/8" with the bail holding a chain up to 2.5 mm.
