An artisan begins
this piece with raw translucent red onyx. He slowly works the stone down with his skilled hands, making each cut to expose the best face of the stone, full of burnished deep red - orange fire, for this elegant and modern setting. The cabachon measures a minimum of 17 mm square (an incredible 18 carats by size!), though the size of each will vary depending on the stone the artisan begins with. Genuine red onyx is an infrequently seen natural gem, similar in color to carnelian, but deeper in hue. This piece measures a minimum of 1 x 1 1/4", not including the custom 7 mm bail, and is marked 925 for 925/1000 pure sterling silver.
