This is a really
beautiful, unusually shaped sterling needle holder or case. It is covered with ornate repousse Art Nouveau-style scrolls. Items like this were frequently part of the sewing kit of fine Victorian ladies and came with a hanging loop as this one so they could be worn on a chain or chatelaine pin. These are also great to hold toothpicks, pins, and other tiny treasures! It's size is just over 5/8" X 2 3/8".
